I'm helping steel come back. I'm in the que to get me a custom steel frame made from a US builder. Carbon fiber is bankrupting the bicycle industry. Most of what is produced out of carbon is pure garbage yet it still draws in the dense minded. What is so cool about a material that can snap, crack, or shatter just from impact. Custom steel is just as beautiful or more so IMO than carbon and more capable of being raced hard than some light weight piece of junk that falsely claims it's aero benefits.

To be fair, Geelong isn't part of Melbourne and classifying the Great Ocean Road (GOR) as anywhere in or around Melbourne is just a fallacy. GOR is 40km out of Geelong. Geelong is 50km out of Melbourne. So the GOR is A good 100km ride from the CBD of Melbourne to get to. The best you can hope for is to classify Beach Road / Point Nepean Rd as 'Melbourne'. Even though that's probably a stretch too (no pun intended). Though I'd argue anything beyond Frankston isn't 'Melbourne'.

I have always been a fan of Sonny, and said to my wife before Paris-Roubaix 2021, Sonny's going to win. He always rides strongly, and it was a shock to me that he had a heart problem at 31 years of age after many seasons of hard racing.

Stelvio can be extremely hard if you are to fast in the first third of the climb. Especially people who don't just want to get to the top but also with the best possible time tend to be to fast in the beginning. A sustainable speed feels slow. In the second, steepest part of the climb, you learn that a bit slower in the beginning was a good idea. The third part, turn 24 down to 1, gives the full view to the top and can be a wonderful experience or hell - depending on how much power you have left. If you like going thru hell, give it a try, be probably 5 or 10 minutes faster and proudly publish it on strava. You got the bragging rights for the years to come. If you like fun, keep the speed sustainable and make sure to reach the top in good condition. Be happy, you got 10 or 20 minutes longer fun than the other guy.
